Our months of hard work finally paid off. It’s finally here. With excellent craftsmanship and fine attention to detail, we’re very proud to announce the all-new and powerful WebUI 2016. The entire WebUI lineup consisting of highly-advanced 40+ web components now finally receives a truly deserved facelift.

Accessing the New WebUI Live Experience

For so long, customers have enjoyed our live WebUI demos through http://live.intersoftsolutions.com. While this experience is adequate, being redirected to another site for a hands-on experience just won’t cut it anymore. So we decided to integrate the new samples right our website. That’s right, now you can experience the new WebUI samples with the gorgeous unified modern theme, right from our website.

Don’t worry, we’ve put these buttons everywhere, so you can easily access them from various pages in WebUI, although it is very much recommended to access them from /WebUI. Should you miss this experience and open the old live samples, you’ll be greeted with the following dialog box.

Without further ado, let’s get right onto the new WebUI Live Experience.

The Home Screen

Right when you launch the new Live Experience, you’ll be greeted with a nice and modern blurred background, showcasing the flagship products of WebUI. This experience works best on modern desktop browsers supporting HTML5 and CSS3.

If you click on products such as WebDesktop and WebEssentials, you can also find a grid of sub-components in them.

WebGrid

When you launch WebGrid for the first time, you’ll be greeted with the First Experience.

This first experience sample demonstrates many of the top UI features available in WebGrid, combined with some unique features such as column freezing, filter suggestion and more.

Some of the top features demonstrated in this sample are:

• Sleek look and feel with the all-new “Elegant” Default Style. The Default Style feature significantly reduces page output size by eliminating in-line styles. Try to view source and notice there are no styles generated in the page level.
• Improved user interface with a new set of fresh icons, background images and UI elements.
• New context menu engine. Try to right click on the Grid area to experience the new context menu system.
• LiveFreeze™ column freezing feature. The only column freezing implementation that perfectly simulates Excel® freezing behavior.
• Automatic Filter Suggestion. Try to right click on a cell (eg, “Owner”), then choose one of the available filter options. The suggested filter options are based on selected cell’s data type and value.
• Filter Status Indicator. When one or more columns are filtered, notice that the filter indicator status is changed to “Filtered”. This indicator helps end users to understand the current state of filters without has to display filter bar. You can click on the filter status indicator to toggle the filter state.
• SmartWebResources™. This innovative technology enable this sample to run without dependencies to “physical” client resources. All client resources such as scripts and images are retrieved directly from resource assembly.
• Declarative datasource control binding. Notice that there are no codes required for the data binding operation (see C# and VB tab).

Samples Navigation Experience

To navigate between samples, you can easily use the arrows on the left and right-hand side of the screen, or use the menu button on the top-left corner of the screen. This will open the Menu panel and you can easily jump between samples.

If you wish to go back the controls grid, simply click the Home button. Should you encounter any problems or hassles with the samples, feel free to chat with us directly using the live messenger on the bottom-right corner.

WebCombo

This the First Experience when you launch the WebCombo sample.

This sample demonstrates the unified modern theme of WebCombo and many of its key features such as SmartWebResources™ and declarative datasource control binding.

Notice that there are no code required for the data binding operation (see C# and VB tab). Try experimenting with the WebCombo controls in this page to see some unique features in action. For instance, Reports-To is using multiple selection feature combined with image column type.

WebInput

This is the First Experience when you launch the WebInput sample.

This sample demonstrates the unified modern theme of WebInput and its key features.

Some of the new features demonstrated in this sample are:

• Sleek look and feel with the all-new “Elegant” Default Style. The Default Style feature significantly reduces page output size by eliminating in-line styles. Try to view source and notice there are no styles generated in the page level.
• Ordinary input text and multiline input text features, like demonstrated in FirstName, LastName, Address, City, Country fields.
• Display and edit format features, like demonstrated in Birth Date field.
• Other edit format feature, like demonstrated in First Name, Last Name, Phone, Extension fields.

This sample also demonstrate integration between WebInput and .NET Validator Control such as RequiredValidator and CompareValidator.

WebScheduler

This is the First Experience when you launch the WebScheduler sample.

This sample is designed to model a car-rental tracking scenario – demonstrating how WebScheduler performs in real-world enterprise application. Bound to over 3000 events, WebScheduler delivers responsive user experiences regardless of the data size.

The powerful JSON technology and smart client paging rendering significantly improved the overall WebScheduler performance to a new level not possible before. This sample combines both the ViewPort™ and EventPageSize™ Client Paging rendering enabling WebScheduler to load in a flash.

Try to play around with the scheduler. Use the upper right vehicle locator for a quick jump. Click on the visual indicator on the resources area to populate the car information.

WebDesktop

This is the First Experience when you launch the WebDesktop sample.

This reference sample demonstrates the beautiful modern theme and many groundbreaking features in WebDesktopManager such as shortcuts and comprehensive window management. It also showcases the integration of various WebDesktop components to create full-fledge and immersive web applications, which include WebPaneManager, WebToolBar, WebTab, WebDialogBox, WebNotification and more. Try to double click each icon to see the WebDesktop components in action.

WebEssentials

This is the First Experience when you launch the WebEssentials sample.

This reference sample perfectly demonstrates WebEssentials component suite which comprised of 8 innovative controls, ranging from accordion, calendar, slider, to rating. WebEssentials enables you to create interactive and visually engaging modern web applications.

In this Online Resume scenario, WebAccordion is used as the main container, dividing this lengthy form into three sections. WebProgressBar is used to indicate the section completion process. The bar will be filled as users click on next. WebCalendar is used for date input and WebSlider for selecting a specific range. WebSlidingMenu is used on the right FAQ section. Click on a question and the answer is shown in a swift and smooth sliding animation.

Additionally, WebFlyPostBackManager is used to populate the section’s content on demand as users click the next button. In Section 1, WebFileUploader is used for image uploading, demonstrating its seamless AJAX upload experience.

WebTextEditor

This is the First Experience when you launch the WebTextEditor sample.

WebTextEditor is the industry’s first text editor that integrates intuitive writing tools, in-line spelling checker, and sophisticated uploading capability in a single interface – enabling you to rapidly build rich CMS application that delivers breakthrough, unique editing experience to your end users.

This sample demonstrates tight integration with Desktop Manager, Spell Checker, File Uploader and many UI components from WebDesktop to produce sophisticated, state-of-the-art CMS application that ultimately feels like a desktop word processing application.

WebTreeView

This is the First Experience when you launch the WebTreeView sample.

WebTreeView provides rich features that lets you easily create hierarchical data presentation. This powerful control incorporates numerous unique features such as:

• Add, edit, and delete node

In addition to product bits, we’ve moved forward to a better direction which greatly enhance and simplify installation experience. The first thing you notice when downloading the new installer is its absolutely small size, 480MB, which is about half the size of previous installer. It’s made possible as we no longer ship offline documentation since we’re completely transitioning to agile workflow for all products (including WebUI and ClientUI now). This direction allows all our documentation to be updated online, whenever new features are added, instead of waiting for the next installer update. As the result, Intersoft Developer Center has been significantly updated to cover new documentation for all the three platforms. You can start exploring here.

We are truly excited to announce that the ultimate cross-platform development toolset now sports even more features and stability updates. This new service pack update includes a new localizable business template, over 50+ item templates for Visual Studio, dynamic localization service, new template definitions for iOS, major stability updates for Android, support for application-wide single sign-on, and much more.

The Crosslight Project Wizard now includes an additional and noteworthy template, which is the localizable business template. The new localizable business template allows you to change the language of the application dynamically at runtime, thanks to the dynamic localization service. If automatic language is set, when the device’s language is set to the one supported by the application, then the language changes automatically. However, you can also force an application to use a specific language of your choice, regardless of the language setting used by the device. The following screenshots show the improved Crosslight Project Wizard and the running app respectively.

We have also shipped more than 50 templates for Visual Studio, ranging for variety of projects, this includes, Android, iOS, Windows Phone, and shared Core project. The templates itself is clear and concise, with instructions inside each template on how to use it. Your development process will be significantly accelerated since you can now quickly add common Crosslight items to your project. Say goodbye to the tedious, error-prone copy and paste.

In addition, Crosslight for Android platform has received major stability improvements, including the support of Xamarin.Android.Support.v4 library, revamped overall lifecycle, elegant rotation handling to ensure that view state is restored without performance degradation, improved tab caching, and reliability of the Android services, such as camera service, location service, social services, and more.

Today, we’re very excited to deliver our most anticipated release yet. In addition to new products, this release also marks several important launches for new kind of services that we’ve been working on these past months. In this blog post, I will share some key highlights of the new products and services.

Premier 2014 Highlights

As planned in our roadmap, the Premier 2014 is strongly focused on Crosslight 2, a major release of our development tools for cross-platform mobile development. Building on solid architecture on top of Microsoft and Xamarin technologies, Crosslight 2 features a vast array of powerful components and services that makes cross-platform enterprise apps development truly a breeze.

Some key highlights of the new features in Crosslight 2 are the comprehensive data access services which cover most data access strategies typically used in mobile apps. You can now easily display data from a remote source and update them back through REST service. Alternatively, you can also load data from a local database which is supported through our advanced SQLite API. Or even better, you can combine both strategies and use two-way synchronization service to sync offline and server changes seamlessly. Best of all, everything can be programmed in the shared ViewModel with just a few line of code. Strictly no tedious platform-specific code is required.

Crosslight 2 ships 200+ new features including frameworks, services and UI components across all platforms.

Of course, there are still a lot of great features that you should try yourself, from social network integration, unified push notifications, async image loader, pull-to-refresh, to advanced master-detail UI component and sophisticated drawer navigation. Unlike other help platforms, our Developer Center is designed with an advanced integrated workflow that allows truly agile product release cycle. Documentation API is automatically published in realtime with each class and member seamlessly linked to the conceptual topics, slashing two third of the time compared to our previous release workflow. You can also watch for certain pages you are interested in, and get updates when the pages are updated.

Introducing Intersoft Git Server

When downloading our new product setup, you will notice significantly smaller download size. The mobile studio is now only 65 MB, down from 110 MB. Due to our improved agile workflows which emphasize on shorter release cycle and efficient delivery , the setup no longer include offline samples.

The good news is that we now have a better place to host all our fast-evolving product samples. Introducing Intersoft’s own enterprise-grade Git server, you can easily find new code and samples right from your browser. Even better, if you’re familiar with Git, you can simply open the terminal or command prompt, then clone the sample projects in a single command.

With the new Git server, this also marks an important breakthrough in the way we release our products. With our recent transition to an advanced GitFlow working model, you can easily find out what features we are working on, and what new samples we are currently preparing. More importantly, we are now starting to adopt open-source initiatives to contribute back to the our customers and community. Our first open-source project is the Crosslight enterprise app framework which provides design pattern, reusable libraries and best practices for building enterprise apps rapidly. In addition, code samples for technical support will now be published — all hosted in the new Git Server. Last year, we successfully redesigned our website and brought account management together in a single, authentic Intersoft experience. Today, I’m pleased to announce that we’ve completed a major milestone in our roadmap to migrate Developer Network to the main Intersoft’s website which features greater usability and latest web standards support such as HTML5 and CSS3.

Introducing the all-new, redesigned Team Developer, you can now easily manage the licenses for your developer team, create new company account for your team, assign and remove subscriptions for your team, and quickly review the summary of your licenses such as the total and occupied licenses. Now, you can also see your account and license information through mobile, so you don’t have to question on its portability. Finally, you can also delegate the Developer Manager role to someone in your team, if you prefer.

Let’s tour the new Team Developer!

Team and Licenses Management Simplified.

The all-new Team Management is now fully integrated to the Intersoft Account portal under the Team tab which can be easily enabled if you’ve purchased multiple licenses. It features an intuitive and easy-to-use interface that conforms to Intersoft’s aesthetic standards, allowing you to conveniently manage your licenses and team developers in a much streamlined interface.

With just a button click, you can easily add your developer into the team, or remove them as they’re no longer in charge. You’ll be presented with a new account dialog – now revamped with only important fields in cleaner interface, such as shown below.

Once registered, the Team Management smartly detect available licenses that can be assigned to the new member. You can  now simply check the subscriptions or individual licenses, and tap the Assign button to finish. It’s that easy – see the following illustration.

Streamlined Corporate Info Management.

If you have not registered as Developer Manager, you will need to enable your account as Developer Manager and setup corporate information before you can add members to your team. Setting up the corporate information is now easy and painless – thanks to the clean, intuitive form design which now shows only relevant fields. The new corporate information screen can be seen below.

As seen in the above illustration, you can delegate the developer manager role to the other registered team member if you prefer. However, once you delegated the role, you are no longer able to manage the Team Developer as you are no longer the ‘Developer Manager’.

In the last section of the page, you can now easily review the ‘License Summary’ which shows information the total licenses that you have under your team. The summary will also show the amount of available and occupied licenses. This will help you in distributing the licenses effectively among the members.

As you see above, the new Team Developer features incredibly intuitive user experience with modern look and feel. Everything is thoughtfully designed – from the icons, styles, and layout. You can easily add product or remove it by simply hover on the item in the list.

In this redesign, a lot of unnecessary and tedious steps have been removed. Our goal is to make it easy and simple for you to manage your account and licenses for your development team. I hope you loved the new Team Developer as much as we love building it.

We are very excited to announce the release of our latest and greatest toolset for .NET development, which have reached SP1 milestone. Our ASP.NET controls are now updated with full Internet Explorer 11 and Visual Studio 2013 support, running on both designer and runtime environment. Project templates for Crosslight are now updated with latest PCL support, as well as Crosslight-enabled navigation drawer controls are now fully supported in both Android and iOS platforms. Full Internet Explorer 11 and Visual Studio 2013 Support

Users running Microsoft’s latest internet browser can now rest assured knowing that our controls consisted in WebUI Studio for ASP.NET lineups, such as WebCombo, WebDesktop, WebEssentials, WebGrid, WebInput, WebScheduler, WebTextEditor and WebTreeView are now updated with full Internet Explorer 11 support, as well as support for designer and runtime support in Visual Studio 2013.

Since Xamarin announced full PCL support, we have also updated our time-saving templates to fully comply with the latest PCL standard, ensuring smooth operations on all supported IDEs across Windows and Mac: Visual Studio 2012, Visual Studio 2013, Xamarin Studio for Windows and Xamarin Studio for Mac. You can rest assured knowing that your projects will flawlessly support PCL on .NET Framework 4.0 upwards.

New Navigation Drawer Samples

As navigation drawer becomes a standard design pattern for mobile apps, we realize it is necessary to create Crosslight-enabled navigation drawers that runs on two of the world’s most most popular platform: iOS and Android. Designed with intuitive navigation interface that conforms to each platform’s UI guidelines, the navigation drawer is guaranteed to give you greater control over your apps that allows more complex navigation features. Jump-start Your Development on Mac

Our Mobile Studio installer for Mac now supports streamlined Mobile Studio installation as well as automatic installation of Xamarin platforms. During the installation, Mobile Studio installer now intelligently detects whether Xamarin platforms are installed and completely removes the technical difficulties for you to jump-start native cross-platform mobile development using Crosslight.

Finally, the wait is over! We’re very excited to announce the new Intersoft Studio 2013 release today. You can start your download here. Despite of the two-month delay, we trusted that the 2013 release truly worth the wait. And for the first time in our release history, we shipped the most comprehensive product guide consisted of 300 pages covering the best practices, walkthroughs and concepts for building highly scalable enterprise mobile apps. We also shipped nearly 150 samples across all the four platforms. And yes, we now provided installers for both Windows and Mac OS, so you can start building great apps with the environment and tools you love the most.

The following screenshots show the three installer options available starting from the 2013 release. The first is the Mobile Studio for Mac, while the second and third is the installer for Windows. While most customers who build ASP.NET, Silverlight, WPF and mobile apps will likely choose the Premier installer, developers targeting mobile-only platforms will find the new Mobile Studio installer more compelling.

You’ll also appreciate the time-saving Crosslight Project Wizard for Visual Studio 2012 which lets you create Crosslight-enabled solution in a single click away. We shipped four project templates with customized themes/layout that you can easily choose from the Wizard. And suddenly, you can simply press F5 in Visual Studio and see native mobile apps in action. Beyond product launches, the 2013 release puts together massive branding, identity and market positioning changes to the company in holistic way. The WebUI Studio Premier branding is no longer relevant as we’re entering the mobile segment now. As such, I’m pleased to announce the new Intersoft Premier Studio. These changes, along with the brand-new Mobile Studio joining the board, exhibits fundamental adjustment to all our infrastructure such as licensing, packaging, and online store. This leads to new direction and redesign to the company’s logo – as well as complete website revamp to deliver an authentic Intersoft’s user experiences to our customers.

Along with the website redesign of over hundreds of pages, we also introduced new Intersoft Account portal which unifies the Intersoft ID with the Intersoft Social ID. So, instead of logging into two different sites, you can now just sign into a single Intersoft Account portal and access your licenses, download the licensed products, review purchase history, print invoice, and access to your support and forum activities. Experience it yourself, head to the new Intersoft home as your starting point, then try signing into Intersoft Account portal, or visit 2013 Tour to check out the new release.

In summary, a lot of energy has been put to make this release happen – from the development team to the designer and marketing team – doing their best to make great products. Today, we have posted an update to the WebUI Studio 2012 R2 installer which addressed a few glitches related to samples and installation. In addition, the installer “refresh” also includes newer product builds across ASP.NET, Silverlight and WPF tools for enhanced cross-platform compatibility and improved reliability. It’s highly recommended to install WebUI Studio 2012 R2 using the latest installer which you can download here.

The installer “refresh” includes numerous updates that are focused around the new technical samples for Silverlight and WPF. In case you didn’t aware, we now include comprehensive technical samples starting from this release. The difference with the live samples is that technical samples are strongly focused on the product features – and there are no fancy stuff such as decorator graphics or complex styling – so you can quickly and easily discover the “how-to” and knowledge to implement a particular feature of the new products.

If you haven’t seen the technical samples yet, now is a good time to take a look at it. It’s installed by default, and can be found in the Intersoft WebUI Studio program group under the respective platform group. In this release, the technical samples include over 150 samples for charting and 40 samples for the other new products such as Query Builder, Property Grid and BreadCrumb.

Each feature of the new product is covered in each separate sample, making it easy for you to learn the context of a particular feature. With simple interface and intuitive navigation, getting around with the samples is easy and fast – you should try it for yourself.

Note that the technical samples is available in both Silverlight and WPF platform with the same codebase. The WPF samples demonstrate that the same features available in Silverlight are also working flawlessly in WPF – from the basic features to the animation and user experiences. Again, the technical samples is installed by default when you install WebUI Studio for Silverlight and WPF, so there’s no additional download needed. It can be found in the Intersoft WebUI Studio program group under the respective platform group.

First of all, Happy New Year! I hope you enjoyed building apps with our tools in the past year, and we look forward to work with you again in 2013! We’ve plenty of exciting new products that we’re planning in this new year, and we’ll update our roadmap shortly in the next few weeks.

In case you missed the news, we’ve shipped the 2012 R2 volume release last month. You can download it here, and check out the what’s new list here. In addition to the new products listed in the “what’s new” list, the R2 release actually ships much more new features and enhancements that weren’t listed in the website. For instances, we also introduced sophisticated “cell locking” feature in UXGridView, brand-new theme manager, performance improvements in all combobox-variant controls, new usability feature in UXRibbon, and much more.

Where can I see all the new features and enhancements, you might asked. It’s in the documentation that you can access online today. The online product documentation features lightweight navigation interface similar to those in Help Viewer. You can easily browse through each topic from the left-side tree navigation, or from the breadcrumb at the top.

In addition to the online documentation, we’ve also recently updated the online samples for ASP.NET. The online samples now reflect the latest release which includes all-new WebDesktop samples demonstrating HTML5 and CSS3 support. In addition, many of the samples have been updated to the latest Modern UI styles.

Among dozens of WebDesktop controls that receive full HTML5 support, one that is quite noteworthy is the WebPaneManager control which undergone major surgery in order to achieve “fluid layout” that works in HTML5 browsers. If you’ve worked with layouting in HTML5, I trust you already foresee the difficulty level to create “fluid layout” that supports dynamic width/height, not to mention the support for nested groups and resizing and other UX features. Luckily, you can easily achieve complex layout now using the enhanced WebPaneManager control. See the following screenshot for example.

The beauty of the new WebPaneManager is that it’s very lightweight – thanks to the revamped layout from TABLE to DIV, and more importantly, it supports combination of fluid and static width/height – all without requiring scripting! This means that when users resize the browser, they’ll see real-time response. We haven’t seen a control with such capabilities thus far in the market, so we’re pleased to be the first delivering such innovative controls to you.

All-new, Completely Redesigned Live Samples.

In addition to many new controls we shipped in this release, we’re pleased to announce the all-new ClientUI live samples with completely redesigned user interface. It’s now featuring larger screen real estate, clean and modern design that allows one to focus better on content, and more intuitive navigation. And for the first time since its first debut 4 years ago, all controls now perform 70% faster than before – thanks to the continuous performance tuning and memory usage optimization.

More importantly, the new live samples puts some of the new R2 controls in action, so you can see how they can be leveraged in your own apps. I’m particularly referring to the new breadcrumb navigation control which completely redefines the overall navigation experiences. Combining hybrid address bar and menu functionality into an elegant user interface, you can now perform navigation in a simple “point-and-click” manner. And because we loved this intuitive navigation control so much, we decided to release it as a standalone reusable control to our valued customers. In addition to the intuitive navigation, you can notice a whole new user experience that our designer team have put into this new live samples, for instances, it sports the improved CoverFlow with realistic depth shadow, better coverage on What’s New and Featured section – thanks to the fluid design allowing you to see more items in larger screen and adapts to reduced items in smaller screen.

And now to the core part, the entire sample canvas has been revamped as well. Unnecessary toolbars and buttons are gone, fancy gradients are wiped out, options and other navigation elements are centralized to a collapsible pane.
